Special Weather Statement issued January 8 at 4:03AM EST by NWS Morristown TN Light snow showers and flurries are occurring across southwest Virginia and east Tennessee in a very cold airmass thats moving southeast from the southern Great Lakes and Ohio Valley. The precipitation will likely continue through at least the mid morning hours. With the cold temperatures in the 20s and teens some accumulation of a dusting to as much as a half inch is possible. While accumulations will be light, slippery conditions are possible on untreated roadways. Also Lingering moisture from Monday and Tuesday may have frozen on surfaces to form black ice. If traveling this morning, use extra caution and allow extra time to reach your destination.

For the Winter Storm Watch, from Friday morning through Saturday morning. * IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday morning and evening commutes. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
